At that time, the Company sold and distributed mainly plates, sheets, rods, tubes and angle bars that were made of copper, brass, bronze or carbon steel. Its customers then were mainly other stockists and re-sellers based in Singapore.In the early 1980s, AnnAik made a strategic move to specialise in the sale and distribution of stainless steel products as there was less competition and the profit margin was higher. Following this shift in product focus, the Company initially traded primarily in stainless steel plates, sheets and rods. Over the years, the Company expanded its range of stainless steel products to include pipes, fittings, bars and tubes.In 1989, the Company was appointed an exclusive distributor of stainless steel butt-weld pipe fittings under the brand of Hoko Fitting Co., Ltd, Japan, for the Singapore market. This exclusive distributorship was further expanded to include the Malaysian market in 1991.In 1990, AnnAik moved its entire distribution business from the rented shophouse to a new warehouse. As a result of further growth in its business volume, the Company acquired another bigger warehouse in Singapore 629542 in 1998.In order to become a specialist in the distribution of stainless steel products and to differentiate ourselves from other players in the general hardware distribution trade, the Company concentrated on the sale and distribution of stainless steel pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, stub ends and butt-weld fittings. These stainless steel products are widely used in diverse industries including marine engineering, shipbuilding and repair, semiconductor, oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, building construction, food processing and utilities industries. As a stockist, the Company sources for stainless steel pipes, flanges, valves, butt-weld fittings and other fittings from various suppliers who are selected based on product quality and on-time delivery.Currently, the Company has approximately 7,000 different items. This enables us to be a one-stop supply centre for customers sourcing for various stainless steel products. To increase cost efficiency and reduce supply dependency on other manufacturers and distributors, the Company expanded its business activities into manufacturing business.In 1995, our Company, formed a joint venture, S. P. United, in Malaysia to manufacture stainless steel stub ends and butt-weld fittings. During this period, AnnAik also began production of Flanges. On 4 September 2003, AnnAik was listed on the Main Board of the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited ("SGX-ST"). The successful listing of the company's shares mark a significant milestone in our corporate history.
